In consultation with local mana whenua, Ngāi Tūāhuriri, the
following Mihi Whakatau process has been provided.
1. Manuhiri gathers or be seated at their seats or designated areas
2. Pao (song) is given by our Mareikura (Ngāi Tūāhuriri) from the Hau Kainga to alert guests that the Mihi Whakatau process will begin..
3. Mihi (Welcome Speech) is delivered by our Whatukura from the Hau Kāinga (Ngāi Tūāhuriri)
4. Whakamoemiti is undertaken to open and bless the event
5. Waiata Kīnaki is sung by the Hau Kāinga
6. Mihi Whakakapi (closing remarks) is delivered by our Whatukura to close the cultural component
Following the mihi whakatau Te Kāreti o Hato Mākere kapa haka group lead by Tamehana Sonny Tehuia Wiparata and Student Leader Kylana Peauafi-Symonds will do a performance.
