PPTA Te Wehengarua, Te Huarahi Māori Motuhake, warmly invites all kaiako from secondary schools, wharekura, and area schools to the PPTA Māori Teachers' Conference 2026, held in Rotorua from Rātapu 5 to Rātu 7 Hurae 2026

 

Our hui focuses on — Mātauranga Taketake – He taonga tuku iho e whakakaha ana i te ako mō ngā whakatipuranga.

Indigenous knowledge- A revered legacy guiding our learning and strengthening future generations.

 

This conference is pitched towards people with good levels of Te Reo and confidence in teaching Māori akonga. 

 Due to capacity, we cannot accommodate attendees from primary or private schools.

 

If you would like to submit someone to be included in the Pohutukawa Slideshow, there will be a link in your confirmation email to do so.

 

Travel to the conference and accommodation costs are your responsibility.  Please ensure you have confirmed your funding arrangements for travel and accommodation with your PPTA region or your branch (school) before registering.

PPTA’s Māori Electoral Roll / Te Huarahi Māori Motuhake (THMM) elections

Being on PPTA’s Māori Electoral Roll ensures that you receive official communications specific to Māori members, are eligible to participate in Te Huarahi Māori Motuhake (THMM) elections, and have voting rights for representatives in PPTA’s Māori constituency. 

This is an important way to stay informed, connected, and have a say in matters that directly affect Māori members within the association.

Accommodation

The booking system defaults to a check-in of 4 July and a check-out of 7 July. If you need to stay for a different duration, please manually update the dates during the booking process.

Conference Dinner

We invite you to embrace the spirit of the conference theme ‘Ake, ake tonu atu’ by dressing in red, black, and/or white for the dinner!  If you wish to attend, please make sure the checkbox below is selected.

Please note: the conference dinner is reserved for registered delegates only due to venue capacity. We are unable to accommodate additional guests. Ngā mihi for your understanding.

 

Summary

Terms and Conditions

On completion of my registration it is expected that the invoice received with confirmation, is paid 7 days from date of invoice OR on the 20th of the following month.

CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS
Cancellations received in writing to PPTA@avenues.co.nz prior to Friday, 13 June will receive a refund. Cancellations received after this date will not receive a refund unless there is an extenuating circumstance where the delegate cannot attend, this will be assessed on a case-to-case basis.
Proof of account will be required for any refunds and refunds can only be issued back to the account it was paid from.

DELEGATES CANNOT SHARE REGISTRATIONS
Swaps on delegate registrations will be accepted until the delegate registers on-site and receives their name tag.
